Dave Brubeck Take five youtube video
The youtube music video of a jazz masterpiece: Dave Brubeck Take five and some reviews about his album titled Time out.
This album brings back fond memories for me. My Dad was a true jazz lover. He purchased this album new in 1959. I remember staring at that album cover sitting on the cocktail table in our living room. Even as a 4 year old, I could appreciate the unique sound. Now as an adult I have a true understanding of the complexities of the melodies. It’s beautiful. Gotta love it.

As one of the most groundbreaking and unique Jazz records in history, “Time Our is surprisingly accessible. One of the 1 st Jazz records to experiment with different Time Signatures, “Blue Rondo A La Turk’ is in 9/8, and “Take Five”, a timeless classic, is in 5/4.
The saxophone playing of Paul Desmond, accompanying the distinctive piano performances of Dave Brubeck make these songs highly enjoyable, and perfect music to play during breakfast, dinner, or whatever time of day you typically play Jazz!
If you’re just starting to explore Jazz, I would recommend purchasing “Time Out’ before getting into artists like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, or Thelonius Monk. Dave Brubeck’s “Time Out” will serve as a much smoother introduction to the world of Jazz- I highly recommend it.
